Alliance Hessen-Nanotech - regional platform for Nano-Innovations

Hessen is one of the major regions both for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and for nanotechnology. It is also one of the most important biotech production locations and, at the national level, one of the strongest regions for medical technology. With the Chemical Parks in Frankfurt-Höchst, Hanau-Wolfgang, Wiesbaden and Marburg, Hessen possesses an excellent infrastructure for research and development, for basic material production and for the production of final products.

With about 150 companies and over 80 university working groups engaged in nanoscience and nanotechnologies, Hessen will stand national and global comparison alike with its excellent potentials for development. Many nanotechnology actors in Hessen are particularly engaged in applications for the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical and medical technology sectors. For this reason, Hessen has set itself the target of identifying these potentials in detail, networking them internally and externally, and developing them further to best effect. The alliance Hessen-Nanotech of the Hessian Ministry of Economy is the regional platform for communication and cooperation in order to strengthen the innovation capabilities of the hessian companies.

Preliminary work has been carried out within the framework of the NanoHE funding programme, together with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The results of this work have shown that it is well worthwhile to enhance these potentials by a systematic joint approach.
