“Bayerische Patentallianz GmbH” - Bavarian example of
innovation

Globalization demands faster implementation of new innovations. The Bayerische Patentallianz GmbH is an excellent example for how the application of new innovations can be accelerated. As the central patent marketing agency for 28 Bavarian universities and universities of applied sciences the Bayerische Patentallianz GmbH markets the inventions of more than 17,000 scientists and it is supported by the Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences, Research and the Arts as well as the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology.

Mediating between the worlds of science and business, the company`s goal is to make the excellent, proprietary inventions of the Bavarian universities available to industry. The interdisciplinary team of scientists, business experts and lawyers supports the inventors of the universities in securing and commercializing their inventions. The Bayerische Patentallianz GmbH evaluates the potential of inventions in the fields of life sciences and engineering and coordinates the patenting process. Using its broad industry-network, the company helps finding suitable industrial partners and negotiates licensing agreements, transfer and collaboration agreements as well as material transfer agreements. Thereby it provides the industry with unique access to the largest technology pool in Bavaria and ensures financial backflow to the universities and inventors.

Today, the organization has a broad spectrum of marketable inventions comprising numerous patent families, which renders its patent portfolio one of the most interesting in Germany. In the field of life sciences it includes biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, chemicals and catalysts, organisms, pharmacology and medicine. In the field of engineering the technology portfolio comprises innovative technologies such as alternative energy technology, electrical engineering, information and communication technology, mechanical engineering, medical technology, measurement technology as well as production and process engineering.

The company is making an active contribution to accelerate scientific and industrial development and to bring interesting innovations to market in order to procure advantages to the whole society.
